New ~ Just for iPad and Procreate users!!!

Yup, that's what I said . . .

New ~ Just for iPad and Procreate users!!!

I LOVE to work on my iPad ~ it's ALWAYS with me and no
matter where I am, I am able to draw, paint, keep a journal, make lists,
take photos, plan my day, read a book . . .  the list goes on!

So, today I talk about drawing and keeping patterns with me that
I can pull from at any time. Reticula and Fragments are huge for me.
Drawing, creating them allows me to practice, relax, experience and create.

This new file I created is very similar to the files I have created
for those who just want to print and go.
The fun thing about this file is that when you have finished
working on a chart or a worksheet, you can still print onto an
8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. Very cool!

So here it is . . .

Square Fragment Charts and Worksheets
Designed for iPad and Procreate

Have a wonderful day!

Triangles to Hexagons

This new stencil actually surprised me as I started working with it.
I discovered so many different ways to use it.
Let's look at one example!

First of all you need to gather your materials and tools.
Stencil, paper (not shown here) ~ choose any paper you'd like to draw on.
Pencil, ink pen, blending stump.

Here, I chose to use a 2" x 2" Bijou tile as my drawing surface.
I used the smallest Double Triangle on the stencil.
Positioned the centering circle in the middle of the tile
and then with my pencil, drew the string.

Then taking my pen, I started drawing my pattern.
I LOVE the tangle Flux.

Almost done!

I wanted the shapes to pop a bit more so I went in and shaded.
The time it took me to draw this was about an hour.
My time is divided in so many ways ~ family, business . . .
I'm not really going to tell you all of the ways it is divided.
Although designing and then making a finished art piece is part of my business,
it is also an extremely vital part of reducing my life stresses ~
we all have them good and bad. It is ME time!

There it is in my studio for me to enjoy.

Here are some other ideas for using this stencil.

Thanks for joining me here.
We are always adding new product to our Pinetree Studios Store,
please go take a look!

Fragments and Reticula ~ Stencils!!!!!

I absolutely love drawing patterns in grids! Which is exactly
what Fragments and Reticula are!
AND . . .
I love tools and practicing!

So, with that in mind, I have designed a LOT of stencils and in different sizes,
to help me draw my artwork.

First, I have made a stencils to "Chart" my fragments.

Fragment Chart Stencil to fit my 5.5" Square Hand-Book (Journal)

This stencil is a great way to use my Fragment Chart Stencil as an jumping
off point to create my design

This one is for a smaller journal ~ the stencil is 3" x 5"

I use this one in my journals that can take a 5" x 8" stencil

I also have several 3.5" Square Stencils, which fit
perfectly on a Zentangle Tile.

This is JUST the beginning for these types of stencils!
Keep coming back ~ I'll be posting again soon!

Stencil can be purchased at our ETSY Store!

the list and ideas go on!

So far I have 61 different stencils in 2 different sizes
3" x 5" and 5" x 8"
and more are coming!

We have been designing and making mugs and tiles as well as so many other creations.

And we have added so many great stencils to use as a tool to have fun with your drawing and painting . . .

So, I can't promise a thing, but I do hope to start posting here again. Meanwhile, stop in and check out all of our items at our Pinetree Studios ETSY Store!

It's January 15th ALREADY????

Oh WOW! I can not believe how time flies!!!!

It is a NEW year AND I am totally ready for what this year is going to bring . . .
AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

So, what have I been doing.

Well, for one thing, I have finally finished my studio and getting it set up. I am really proud of the way it has turned out too. Trying to organize all of my fabric and yarns has been an existing problem for me and then it finally occurred to me how to do it!

First off, I guess I should tell you what it is that I do here . . .
I am a designer, weaver, artist (pen & ink and graphic).
Looking around here on our blog should give you an idea.

I looked and looked all over Pinterest (and other places too) and could not find anything that suited my particular problem of storage. I am happy to post pictures here and share my solution, hoping that this will help someone else with their storage challenge too.

This picture shows 21 ~ 4 Wire Basket Units from Ikea.
Yup, that is 84 wire baskets!!!!!

I won't bore you with how many trips I actually made to the store to get my
studio organized, but it was a lot!

I have stored my::
fabric ~ woolfelt, wool, cotton, flannel, batik, handwoven fabric
yarn ~ wool, wool blend, cotton, twine, novelty, ribbon, roving
finished items, work in progress and my items for sale.

Each basket has a label and is lined with paper so everything stays in the basket.
Boy, am I happy!

Next . . .
I love this view!

Again, from Ikea ~ the desk and legs along with two drawer units that also store files ~ a must!
I have most of my pens, markers and watercolors in this area too. My computer too.

Then . . .
My cutting center. Again Ikea. Table and legs. Two files drawers that can best be described
as units that could store maps.
I have my weaving tools, embroidery threads and tools, rulers & templates, fringers,
yo-yo makers, knitting and crocheting tools, etc. in these drawers.
Up on this peg board (there is another that stores my cutting tools) I have some of my pin looms,
weaving yarn spools, project bags (so I can grab and go).

Lastly (not really)  . . .
My library and embellishment center!

2 of my five rigid heddle looms.
Button, beads, charms, wire, tools, more pens, dies, etc.
I love this center!!!!!!

So, this is what I have been working on to get ready for this new year.
I am excited to work in this fabulous studio!

Please come back often to see what I am making . . .
my husband and I actually have more in store, but that is another post!!

Have a GREAT day!

Weekly Challenge #136 ~ "Colour Colour Everywhere"

So, I'm thrilled by this week's challenge because
I just recently started to work with
color in my ZIA's!!!

I have been creating new stencils
(coming soon to our ETSY store)
and have been focusing on
fall ~ my FAVORITE time of year!

Here I have used my markers and my airbrush sytem
to create this fabulous background.
Naturally, I had to tangle it!

(tangles used:: printemps, florz and flux)

Then, my daughter-in-law McCall Miller ~ CZT #2,
taught me another technique using wonderful
Stabilo CarbOthello pastel pencils.
Can you say YUMMY!

(tangles used:: printemps, knightsbridge, eke, kathy's dilemma)

So, thank you Laura ~ i am the diva ~ for another wonderful challenge!
You are great!!!!!

P.S. ~ That cute little bat holding the tiles ~
they are also for sale at our ETSY store!

Have a GREAT day and thanks for looking!

Weekly Challenge #127 ~ DuoTangle v. VII: Cirquital/Opus

I really enjoyed this week's challenge!

"The challenge is to use specifically the two tangles presented here.
You can find the step outs to Cirquital HERE and Opus can be found HERE."

So this is my take on this challenge.

(tangles used:: opus and cirquital)

Thanks for stopping by and thank you Laura!!

We've had several requests for going to a
Digital PDF Format for our
Blank Pattern Cards ~

This is a perfect tool for cataloging your patterns, but don't stop there!

"Love these cards not only for tangle patterns but as color reference card
for my other art media like watercolors, inks, & acrylics." ~ J

This is an alternative to our Blank Pattern Cards that we offer ~ if you choose,

you can still order the physical Blank Pattern Cards.

Weekly Challenge #126 ~ Stencil Fun

After being asked to write a guest post for Artistcellar,
Laura (i am the diva) started using some stencils to do some tangling!
"If you have some stencils in your stash, time to pull them out
and try tangling using the stencils as your string!
Don't fret if you don't have any stencils in your art supply,
you can use anything from around the house."

So give it a try!

Although I did not just do this for the challenge,
I thought it might be fun to post it anyway!

I decided to make a mug insert a while back for a
friend of mine and chose to use this maple leaves stencil.
Both my friend and I were very happy with the results!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Diva Weekly Challenge #121 ~ Birds on a Wire

The challenge this week, given to us by Laura ~ The Diva, is to learn and use
one of the tangles created by YOU. (UMT ~ Use My Tangle)

This week's tangle, Birds on a Wire, was created by Mary Kissel, CZT.
You can see the step outs for this tangle on her blog HERE

So I took this tangle out for a spin ~ just had fun with it!
Kept it very simplistic.
This is definitely a pattern I will play with more ~ very cool!

(Tangle used :: birds on a wire)

So this is the fun part too.
I was "test driving" one of our new designer boards this morning
when my husband came in to tell me something.
He stopped and watched and then
asked what this pattern was called ~ he tangles too.
I told him Birds on a Wire. "Mary," he said ~ "look at your board!"
WOW!

Have fun! Thank you Laura and Mary!
GREAT tangle!

Diva Weekly Challenge #120 ~ Tangleation Nation ~ Bales

This week's challenge is to use the tangle, Bales.
Although it is considered to be one of the staples of Zentangle,
I find I hardly ever use it!

So thank you Laura for this week's challenge!
Definitely need to play with this.

 (Tangle used ~ bales)

I have eight Tiffany lamps ~ after I finished with this tile
I realized that it would have been great colored!
I plan on doing another one of these so I can
use my Koi Water Colors by Sakura.  FUN!!!

Just a note ~ I have been experiencing a "problem" with my
zentangle tiles and micron ink. The ink seems to be bleeding a bit and
the tiles seem to have more of a "rag" to them.
I have a light hand and it has been a bit more damp where I live.
Anyone have an idea?

Diva Weekly Challenge #119 ~ Ebony and Ivory

Laura's challenge ~
"This week's challenge was directly inspired
by this post on the Zentangle Blog where Rick and Maria
showcase some gorgeous pieces where the black and white
are evenly distributed throughout the tiles."

Well, NOT that I expect results ~ I really don't,
but this didn't turn out exactly how I thought it would.
BUT that's ok! So in the true fashion of
Zentangle, it turn out how it was supposed to ~ unexpected!!

Thanks again Laura ~ you are awesome!!!

(Tangles used :: strircles and flux)

Diva Weekly Challenge #118

This week's tangle comes to us from Katy Abbot, CZT~ it is called Kuke
and if you click here you will learn all about this wonderful tangle!!!!

This tangle is so much fun ~ I will be using this one a lot!
Thank you Katy! Thank you Laura ~ another great challenge!

(Tangles used :: kuke and hollibaugh (variation)

I love this time of year where I live!
(That's not entirely true ~ I love it where I live ALL of the time!)
I like to take pictures of my work outside by this
dogwood. It just stopped blooming and is now leafing out.
It's so beautiful!
