Loving This !!!!

So, in my last post I talked about how I was asked to create
a Pattern Step Out that could be downloaded to the computer
and then be available to print out onto their favorite paper.

I still love, always will, the feeling of pen to paper, but I have to tell you,
I have wasted a ton of paper!!! LOL

I have an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, (thank you hubby!) and my
son showed me this awesome program, Procreate. I have used those tools for
quite some time and loved how I could practice certain techniques,
getting more comfortable with a pattern. Some of my favorite types of
patterns, or tangles, are from using a grid. So, this almost goes without saying,
The next worksheet I designed was the grid.
.
This may seem to you to be very simplistic, but for me having the
dots, or squares, already there just allow me to start experimenting.
.
This is a screenshot of using it on my iPad Pro.
Now the beauty behind this is that Procreate allows you to
create by using layers. So my drawing these simple W2, Huggins and Pickpocket
tangles are on a second layer. I can turn off the bottom layer, meaning
the grid, and all you will see are my patterns. Sweet!!!!
I can save what I draw and even save as a jpg and print the "photo" of my design.
.
Printed out on Bristol Vellum Cover Stock 67lb. paper.

Thank you for joining me today! Have a wonderful day!

You can find this Digital Download at our Pinetree Studios store.

It's January 15th ALREADY????

Oh WOW! I can not believe how time flies!!!!

It is a NEW year AND I am totally ready for what this year is going to bring . . .
AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

So, what have I been doing.

Well, for one thing, I have finally finished my studio and getting it set up. I am really proud of the way it has turned out too. Trying to organize all of my fabric and yarns has been an existing problem for me and then it finally occurred to me how to do it!

First off, I guess I should tell you what it is that I do here . . .
I am a designer, weaver, artist (pen & ink and graphic).
Looking around here on our blog should give you an idea.

I looked and looked all over Pinterest (and other places too) and could not find anything that suited my particular problem of storage. I am happy to post pictures here and share my solution, hoping that this will help someone else with their storage challenge too.

This picture shows 21 ~ 4 Wire Basket Units from Ikea.
Yup, that is 84 wire baskets!!!!!

I won't bore you with how many trips I actually made to the store to get my
studio organized, but it was a lot!

I have stored my::
fabric ~ woolfelt, wool, cotton, flannel, batik, handwoven fabric
yarn ~ wool, wool blend, cotton, twine, novelty, ribbon, roving
finished items, work in progress and my items for sale.

Each basket has a label and is lined with paper so everything stays in the basket.
Boy, am I happy!

Next . . .
I love this view!

Again, from Ikea ~ the desk and legs along with two drawer units that also store files ~ a must!
I have most of my pens, markers and watercolors in this area too. My computer too.

Then . . .
My cutting center. Again Ikea. Table and legs. Two files drawers that can best be described
as units that could store maps.
I have my weaving tools, embroidery threads and tools, rulers & templates, fringers,
yo-yo makers, knitting and crocheting tools, etc. in these drawers.
Up on this peg board (there is another that stores my cutting tools) I have some of my pin looms,
weaving yarn spools, project bags (so I can grab and go).

Lastly (not really)  . . .
My library and embellishment center!

2 of my five rigid heddle looms.
Button, beads, charms, wire, tools, more pens, dies, etc.
I love this center!!!!!!

So, this is what I have been working on to get ready for this new year.
I am excited to work in this fabulous studio!

Please come back often to see what I am making . . .
my husband and I actually have more in store, but that is another post!!

Have a GREAT day!

Oh happy day!!!!

I am so excited to have finally finish writing the e-pattern
for this Jewel Tone Stained Glass Penny Rug!!!!

 Measures approximately 10.5" x 17"

I've had so many wonderful comments made about this penny rug.
It is so vibrant and looks great under one of my Tiffany Lamps!

The jewel tone pennies are cut from a fabric I wove on my pin loom.
So relaxing and it really does make up fast!

The nicest aspect of this Stained Glass Penny Rug is there will never
be another one made exactly like it! So unique!!!

When all of this started . . .

I was "Spring" cleaning and changing out my decor when
I happened upon this penny rug.

This was my very first penny rug I designed and, I have to say
that after all of this time, it has really held up well.

I tried to replicate it a few years ago and couldn't find the exact colors
that I had originally used. So I went looking for similar
colors and found some that were close enough. I will say though, even now,
not all of the second choice colors are available.

I have had custom order requests for this design and even though I designed this
in 2008, it's is becoming a "classic" and I believe will
be a pattern that can be used years to come regardless of using
the colors I had originally used.

Falling Maple Leaves Collection

Almost every time I offer a new pattern I say it’s my favorite and this time is no different.
I absolutely love the fall. This collection speaks to me of all of the things
I love about Autumn;  the colors, the smell of apple and pumpkin pie,
the changes in temperature, the way I feel like I can just slow down a bit.

This Falling Maple Leaves Collection includes Coasters, "Whatever" Mats and a Twirlie
and was made from National Nonwovens Woolfelt.

"Whatever" Mats . . .

I just can not believe how quickly the days have passed!
I have been so busy creating new designs ~ I have completely lost track of the time!

So, what have I been doing? Keep on reading ~ here is ONE new concept.

Penny Rug? Decorative Mat? Coaster? Mug Mat?

It's a "Whatever" Mat.
Whatever you need to use it for, under a candy dish, a vase, a mug, a candle, whatever . . .
The “Whatever” Mats are meant to be a smaller version of the “traditional” sized penny rugs.

Because of their size, I believe they are more versatile for decoration purposes.
Have a long dining table like I have? . . . make several and place them down the middle
of the table instead of one long runner. They are also the perfect size for narrow tables,
end tables, night stands, book shelves, whatever . . . ;)

Bunnies "Whatever" Mat Collection

Bunnies "Whatever" Mat Collection
This "Whatever" Mat was made using Wool and Floss from Weeks Dye Works

This piece is part of a Bunnies "Whatever" Mat Collection.
I have really enjoyed working on this collection. As a bonus for purchasing this e-pattern
in my ETSY Store I have included the templates for two more designs,
Springtime Run (Bunnies and Flowers) and Easter Run (Bunnies and Eggs).
Each measures approximately 8.5" x 8.5"

More to come soon!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Acorn and Leaves Decoration Mats

These beautiful Acorn and Leaves Decoration Mats
were inspired by my love of the mighty oak.
It always amazes me how this tree comes from the smallest of acorns.

I designed 3 different sizes and each can be used in so many
different ways to enhance, not over power, your picture frames,
figurines, vases, tools, etc. . . . how will you use yours?
