I don't usually post about things like this, but it has really made
me stop and think ~ I DO need to post this.
My husband and I, and my daughter and her family (who live nearby), have been
threatened by a fire only a few miles away from us.
James, my son-in-law, is a Wild Land Fire Fighter and when
he said, "Please head down the hill." Well, let me just say,
we didn't hesitate! Both families are back in their homes now
and safe, as long as the wind blows away from us.
The reason for this post is this, DO NOT for a moment think that you
are always safe from any type of disaster/destruction, whether it
is from a natural force or a human force. We are ALL susceptible.
So . . .
** Make sure that you have a list to help you grab stuff you need or just plain want.
** Make sure that you have photos of your belongings for the insurance company.
With info and current replacement value.
** Put your photos and data files stored in three different places
(online is a good choice for one of those places).
(online is a good choice for one of those places).
** Think now about how you are going to file your taxes if all of
your records are destroyed, because guess what ~ you still have to file.
** Don't be lazy ~ put documents and those small, precious items you are not using
in a fire proof, lock box. If you can grab that and go, that's best.
If not, at least it might survive whatever you are facing.
There are always other things to think about ~ so if you have a suggestion
please post it in a comment.
Thanks for listening ~ please prepare.
